Disciple Making & Evangelism through Business in Kenya
Priscilla runs an event planning business in Mombasa called Elegance Events and Decor, providing linens, tents, and chair rentals for all sorts of events. She’s even gotten to partner with some of the medical teams hosting medical camps in her region to provide chairs for her community to sit while awaiting treatment.
As part of her business, Priscilla hires young men to help with setup and event work. Some are believers, others are not. As they work together though, she intentionally builds relationships with them and begins walking them through the Disciple Making Movement (DMM). They meet regularly outside of work for discipleship, and she’s grateful that her business gives her access to these relationships in the first place while allowing her to meet a tangible need by paying them for their work, alongside walking with them spiritually. She sees value in believers and non-believers working together, using the shared work environment as an opportunity to talk about faith and point people to Jesus as the source of her provision and success.
After going through Videre’s training, Priscilla gained new clarity around leadership and hiring. The training helped her think differently about how to choose employees and the importance of trusting God to bring the right people to work alongside her. She credits the training with expanding her perspective and helping her grow as a business owner.
Priscilla shares in our belief that when people come together cross-culturally to share ideas and experiences, businesses grow and communities are strengthened. From her perspective, the model works, and she’s seen the fruit firsthand.
